The new TFS e-mag Empire "Logo of the Millenium" was designed, produced, saved, and e-mailed by the one-and-only Chris Tedesco, smpmxracer@aol.com, who will now be showered with e-mail requests for more.  Check out his site at www.dirtrider.net/mxro.

10/31/99: Sondra reports the So Cal race gang went skating untill the wee hours saturday.  Sondra crashed.  I think it was a DNF.

It's a quiet weekend on the web.  If you get an urge check out the new 63 photo caption special!   This is a special photo selection of your favorite people.  You can paste to Mototalk and write your own caption.  Have fun, but remember, if you are too out of line, we will post a photo of YOU!

10/30/99: Everyone's favorite party spy and moto-Queenie Sondra is out with the race gang at a Halloween party.  Maybe we can squeeze a party review out of her tomorrow.

Andyk waited a while to review the latest web explosion.  Let's see if it's safe to release the latest version of Mototalk Action, the magazine that exists just to see the lighter side of web anger.

10/29/99: Things are quiet this weekend, but next weekend the racing starts back! The PACE National Arenacross Series kicks off in Des Moines on Nov 5th, which is always a popular event with the media crowd. Everyone goes. After that we pack up and head back to Paris for an annual favorite, the three night race/party at the Omnisports de Bercy, Nov 12-14! The turnout of US riders is expected to be great, including the required appearance of MC, and the first race at Bercy for RC. RC was there in 1997 but didn't race.

Someone stop our buddy Denny Hartwig over at Motoworld.net! Denny is loading good stuff so fast you can't read it all. They have a really cool article about Travis's appearance on the Martin Short show. Travis just turned 16 on the US Open weekend, but everyone seems to agree he is already a star - not just because he made it in Freestyle, and he seems sure to be a front runner in the pro ranks - but because he is so good with media and crowds too. Suzuki has a PR gem already.

Chris at MX.com is really enjoying his new digicam. He sends over those "Look at this!" e-mails about once an hour. He also has some cool stuff on the new Cannondale 4-stroke.

If you didn't catch the encouraging news about one of the beneficiaries of the rider gear auction Geoff Eberly, check out DC's new Racerhead.

In case you missed it, Swap at MX Racer just posted on Mototalk 2 they just snagged a new Yamaha 426.

10/27/99: Bummer news on Robbie Reynard.  His injury from the US Open might keep him out as long as six months due to reported nerve damage to his right shoulder.  This was reported by his sister Cherie.

In case you missed the address to send best wishes, it's:

Cherie R. Kobiske

Our cub photohound for the Binghamton weekend Jeff Piccolo sent his best fishes after reading about the new EA Sports Supercross 2000 game here.  Now he wants a copy.  I don't have it yet, I just tried a demo.

10/26/99: A super-mega photo release of PACE Supercross stuff is uploading all morning today.  The 250 photos are mostly 800 pixels wide and were put together to run in the background during the PACE awards banquet last May.

10/24/99: The TFS e-mag is pleased to bring you a preview of the official video game and title sponsor of the 2000 Pace Supercross series!  EA Sports Supercross 2000 is the game you want if you want to get on the real tracks and mix it up with the real pros.

On the members section, today you can get your choice of five way cool cartoon wallpapers from the outdoor series.  Each of the five features the remarkable work of our friend Walt, who entered the Scott goggle contest last year. Check it out!  If we are nice to Walt he might finish the set of twelve.

0/23/99: OK, forget about the big photo release that was a victim of the server change.  Brad at the US Open did a larger one anyway, check it out.

10/22/99: The debut of the TFS e-mag 2000 is ready.  This is the one you need to be a subscriber to read.  It will get a lot more changes quickly but at least you can check the progress.  The first item up is an interview with Shayne King by our own Aussie friend Motodude.  (Oh no!   Not another interview from an Aussie!  I hope he doesn't ask him about partying!)

The huge US Open photo release was a victim of the server change last weekend.  I will have to re-do it.

Here's a preview of next year's digi-photos

1999 - ADB Thumper Nats Series,Final Round Of The Millenium.

10/20/99: Our excellent Aussie friend Motodude  sent this photo of Shayne King:

The '96 500 World champ King put on an awesome display on the new 520 KTM thumper, going 1-1-1 on the day. He is all set to race the US SX and National series for 2000. Look for him to win some outdoor races.

Where to store snagged photos from Motonews 2..

iomega.jpg (32574 bytes)

10/19/99: New Sponsor!  Just in time for the US Open (OK, just in time for US Open photo saving), TFS e-mag World Headquarters just got these trick new gadgets from iomega, the makers of the new 250 Meg ZIP Drives and the portable Clik! 40-meg media designed for digital cameras.  The folks at iomega happen to be fans of SX/MX, and say they are checking in every day.

The 250 Meg drive is small and designed to work with your laptop.  The Clik! gadget is even cooler, you can carry it with you to store 40 megs of digital images at a time on the small discs, and keep shooting.   This saves you from buying a pile of media cards, and you can use the Clik! discs as permanent storage if you want, or transfer to larger ZIPs later.  The e-mag will run a report after the next race trip.  These should work perfect for three days at Bercy!

iomega stuff is available all over, except for the MGM Grand, where they can't find anything, including your reservation, your package, or the Health Department (food poisoning, thanks!).

Any resemblance to real opinion is purely speculation.   Outbursts that may or may not come from out of control spectators with no life, aliens, or web gremlins are not the responsibility of this web site's owner, service provider, employees, shop dog, or web tyrant.  They might not be anyones for that matter.  This is the web.

You are on your own.  Have fun!

10/18/99: Cha ching!  Depending on who you talk to, either Motonews has thrown away what is by far the busiest web message board (Mototalk) and committed suicide, or done what no other similar web place has the clout and balls to pull off.  In other words, like it or not, right or wrong we did it!

We took out the trash.

And I am glad we did.  This is not to say people who want to use their web time to vent anger, sound off, or hit-and-hide on message boards are really trash, of course they are not.  The issue should be where, and at who's expense.  Mototalk started out as a fun place where people could talk about the races they just saw, announce a web update they just finished, and trade gossip and enjoy it.   Those days were long gone.  Some people want a safe place where media and race folks can trade info in an atmosphere with at least some respect, some don't.  Those who don't loose this time.  You can yell all you want on www.IHateTFS.com.

Ask anyone in racing who you don't see on the web why you don't see them, and the most common answer is the web just sux.  It's a place where the uninformed talk smack, insult riders and their girlfriends, make up rumors, and hide.  Why bother?  It is also the most exciting and high potential media going.  In spite of the unruly nature of the 'Net, it is already number one in terms of getting race news out.  It has already run around the old guard print folks, who either like it or hate it.  It's fun.

OK, enough of that!  What next?  Motonews will last through this flap because we are going to bring the industry something new - a friendly and fun place to hang out, and the added benefit of a way to go around all the media, even TFS.  We will also last because this site maintains a presence at the races that does not require the largest web audience. One year from now you might see this team or this rider logging on to say what they want to say about the last race, or a new bike, or who practices harder than who.  Instead of throwing the latest grumpy mag aside one more time (trust me - there is frustration in the pits with grumpy mags), now they can write their own magazine, in real time, right here on the bravest moto site on the Net!

Print this and mark your calendar.  If it doesn't happen in a year you can log on and call me a fool.  Then I will delete it, and thank you for the $25.  Doh!

Cash Trek: "To Boldly go where no Moto Website has gone Before..."

10/16/99: Get ready for a rocky weekend!  If you thought the hoopla over Fro was too much, watch the fireworks when they throw the switch over to 'Motonews 2.' Motonews 2 will be the first web site in the SX/MX biz to offer premium memberships.  Yea, that's right.  You can whoop out the credit card and become an instant Member (Cool People), or still check in as a non-member (Slacker).

The difference will be much more content on the Members section, and ability to post to a kinder, gentler (hopefully) Mototalk.  Slackers will still be able to read all the gossip on Mototalk, and get news summaries.  Cool People get to taunt the slackers who will still check in, even though they will have to fight somewhere else.

So what's this all about?  Are we greedy bastards?  Are we just trying to wreck a good time?  Is it just a trick?   Nah..The decision was made in the home office in Dallas, but I say what the heck, go for it. We have already done all we need to with the site as it is, and maybe moving it up a step to a real place with a budget is overdue.  It was fun to get as far as this web site did with almost no money, but costs are going up quickly and something has to give.

10/15/99: Hey, check out Mr Busy! >  Mikeee did good

10/11-14/99: Hello, TFS won't be in today, (recovering from Vegas).

10/10/99: He did it.  Fro won the $100,000. He's the comeback man this weekend.  On a privateer YZ250 sponsored by Theedgesports.com.

frocomeback2.jpg (8508 bytes)

Moments after he finished second to Albee on the second night at the US Open, Fro let's everyone know how good it feels.  He was a crowd favorite.   He was very, very happy.

10/8/99: A magazine like the one from Stade de France is coming together for the US Open.  It's on the TFS e-mag.  The US Open's site will have updates and a ton of photos.

Th event is going well so far.  The addition of the Freestyle was a great idea!  Travis Pastrana, Edgar Torrenterras, Brian Deegan, Cary Hart, and Rourke helped make an evening of prep for 80 racing and four-stroke qualifying a killer show.

10/6/99: Ward is confirmed out for the US Open this weekend.  He went to the Dr. tuesday to have his hand checked and the good news is nothing broken.  He won't race the weekend but should be back on a bike (a green one) next week.  Ferry is also out with a separated shoulder.

So far "Mr media enthusiasm" for USSX is our buddy Chris Williams over at Motocross.com. They don't let him too far away from Atlanta much and he likes to go to Vegas and elbow fight the CN guys for a chance to do a live web thing.  Make sure you have your computer ready to bounce back and forth between CN and Chris at MX.com.  Do they have a remote channel changer for web surfers?  click..click...click

Brad at US Open has somehow snagged the Mnews/Racer X crew of Sondra, Bauer, Denise and Todd, and myself to scour the MGM for news, photos, gossip, lies, and whatever else we can scrape up for the events official web site, USSX.com.   The backroom will have no less than four Olympus digicams, and a pile of PCs, photo chips, ZIP discs, flash gadgets, and battery chargers.  Web updates will happen at least twice a day.  The TFS-e-mag plan isn't really a plan yet, but it never really is anyway.  It will be another weekend of "winging it."

ax3tfsfalls.JPG (12890 bytes)

"Snoop" and Michelle did it

Lucky guy!  Our own Denny Stephenson (Snoop), and Arenacross official "BABE" Michelle Falls got hitched...

(Look at this photo, I did know Denny was that good-looking.)

10/5/99: No one seems to be too happy over that Fro interview by Geoff Meyer.   Geoff and Jeff talked about it this weekend.  There is no use in beating this one around any more, except to say I just made some changes to it and it deserves another look.  Overall I am not sure if a web site with a message board handy is the right place for hard news.  This place is about racing, no?

OK, let's start coughing up some bucks for this week's Tallon Vohland riding gear and the Doug Henry and John Dowd T-shirts!  You have until monday to bid and this is to benefit riders Tony Haynes and Geoff Eberly.  E-mail your bids to TFS, and I will keep you posted on Mototalk.

10/4/99: McGrath and Fro on the same team?  LaRocco, Lamy, Tortelli, and Hughes all pitted together?  It's all found in the Motonews on-site mag for the Stade de France Supercross.  Motonews takes you beyond the standard text, or text and photo web reports.   Any web monkey can do those these days.  In keeping with our modest tradition of raising the bar of reportage out of reach of the media's well-funded, once again we break new ground and go with full-featured on-site mags for major events.

On-site mags will typically have sections for pits, people, press news, and of course, racing.  The first one was the five-day on-site report for Loretta Lynn's, which was available through visiting Racer X or MXSports.com.

frohelmet.jpg (26328 bytes)

Captain America in Paris?

You bet!  Fro was the top Yank in Paris!  While his bus-driver-turned-mechanic Tim Dixson prepared a Yamaha supplied by the Italian Magic Bike folks,  teammates for the day Fro and MC quietly arrived in the pits together and got ready.  MC bailed on the slippery track a few times in the main and retired with bent bars.  Fro finished third behind two very motivated Euros on full-on works bikes.   Tim said FMF's Terry Varner had them fixed up with a killer motor.

10/2/99: McGrath, Everts, Emig, Vuillemin, Ward, Bolley, Tortelli, Lamson, LaRocco, Pichon, J-S Roy, and   the rest of the world's best (that could make it) traveled to Paris, France for the opening round of the FIM Supercross World Championship series.

Motonews/TFS e-mag brings you the first ever on-site e-magazine from France! Check it out!

podium.jpg (12414 bytes)

1) Vuillemin, 2) Pichon, 3) Emig!

10/1/99: It's friday and it's the day TFS e-mag hits PARIS for the second ever Stade de France Supercross! This will be round one of the world championship SX series.  Reynard in the defending world champ, but Vuillemin will defend his win at Stade de France last year.  Vuillemin won a muddy mess after Reynard slipped.  The TFS e-mag delegation one one will be looking for our own excellent translator and French correspondent Dominique Sourie at the airport.
