NEWS:
Sondra's pop Stu Peters with a piece of history he helped create.
TFS emag chatted with MC late Sunday after the post-Bercy dinner in Paris. MC isn't worried about this weekend. The full text will go up Friday along with statements from DV, Tortelli, Buckelew, McCarty, JMB and more, and before that we will have lots of party photos. DV got Buckelew set up to go to Bercy. At the post race press conference the AGI press guy suggested DV should be his agent. Last week at Stade de France DV was the interpretor at the rider's meeting. What an all-around guy huh? The three press releases for each night of Bercy are up, emag 2000, racing page. Olive Whah, the next update will be from a fast American phone line. OK, maybe not. At the Bercy Novatel lobby, Eric Peronnard (US contact for Bercy event) and his crew watched the racing visiors file back into the hotel lobby a few hours after they were dropped off at the airport. Crazy weather forced chaos at the airport and many will try again tomorrow. DV is staying until Wednesday. He's going to an AC/DC concert in the same stadium he won in this weekend. JMB wouldn't confirm yesterday, but the word is he will be coaching Tortelli full time for the first part of 2001. Also at the Bercy press conference Tortelli was talking about riding the 4-stroke Honda and that they aren't sure who will race it in the outdoor series. Sunday morning: It's just about all over here at Bercy and they haven't had the last two 250 motos yet. Find out why on the 250 Racing page on the TFS emag 2000. Justin Buckelew is the Prince of Bercy! David Vuillemin is the King of Bercy! Results from the second night of racing are up on TFS emag 2000. This was another wild and crazy night!
So far Vuillemin is stealing the show at Bercy, while MC and Skip struggle with front fork problems. MC used a borrowed production sete after something broke inside his forks. He didn't ride this week and no one is sure if the damage happened last weekend at Stade de France. If you think the MC camp isn't serious about this event, re-think. Find out how MC gets a new set of forks on the TFS emag 2000 Bercy section. Also if you were waiting to learn what JMB will be doing next year, check it out>>> More details on TFS emag 2000. MORE: MC looked a lot better in practice today with his bike back to normal. His lap times were still 1/2 second behind DVs but he looked like a different rider this afternoon. This evening will be interesting. Buckelew is on fire in the 125 class! he was feeling a little sick before the races but it didn't show on the track. Langston crashed out of practice Friday (He will be OK). From Oggi: Freestyle Motorcross Rider Cary Hart
MC in Bercy today. Here's the update from Mototalk: DV is totally flying in practice! MC
looks good, Pichon, and there is a whoop section Tortelli is a madman in. Racing should be
good. French TFS has finished DV's web site, check out www.davidvuillemin.com.
Special report: Behind the scenes at Stade de France. Here's a couple of links from last year's Bercy: Michelle's Bercy report
and here's an all-new look back at last year's Bercy event.. (members section) This weekend's lineup for Bercy includes less American riders: Just MC and Huffman on 250s. Buckelew and Schnell will be the US 125 riders. Last year the 250 class started out with MC, Lusk, Windham, RC and Lawrence. Also racing will be DV (off course), Tortelli, Ronron on the Kawasaki, Pichon, Byrne, and more. In the 125 class the two US riders will face Grant Langston, Rodrig Thain (last year's Prine of Bercy), Demartis, Boniface, and Edgar Torronteras. These are on a special page of Motonews freebies which hasn't been updated since March, but there is some cool stuff on it, check it out: TFS emag Guest section. Bauer knew the late photographer Ron Hussey, who is the subject of a tribute on Drag racing online (Scroll down and look at Dave Wallace Words). Hussey was trying out digital cameras in 1991, 6 years before the first same-day photo report from a Supercross (right here on Motonews, Jan 1997). Motonews regular Chris Tedesco is now big time media. Here's a freestyle article and photos he did for Extreme Sports.com.
Photo Hoax! TFS emag has learned from solid inside sources the internet has just had a remarkable photo hoax regarding the new Honda 4-stroke! A southern California photographer with access to a test bike cleverly faked a set of Tortelli riding in Japan, and sent them out over the net. A few small web sites ran them, but no one really noticed. Honda released some genuine photos, which you can find here, and also read more details on how the net got fooled>>>

EA Sports Supercross 2001 - The competiton will be the best ever. It's a busy news day! Arenacross is starting the weekend after Bercy, www.IHateTFS.com has plenty of links to the new Honda 4-stroke, things are heating up in France, the EA Sports Supercross game for 2001 preview is just about out, and more pictures from Stade de France are up.
Here's the 2001 GP calendar, just finalized right now. (Scroll down to get GPs) (Oops, yesterday this had a bad link, its fixed) The last two weekends have have featured two incredible performances, RC at the US Open, and Vuillemin at Stade de France. Still the ultimate showdown of the late season is likely to be this weekend's three night battle rotal at the Omnisports de Bercy in Paris. Last year French fans saw Vuillemin chase MC around the track for 5 motos, and DV run off with a 6th when MC broke a carb needle. DV was polite and said MC was really the king of Bercy. The event was an accurate preview of what was to happen in EA Sports Supercross this year. Vuillemin surprised many people in the US, but if you saw last year's Bercy, you knew DV would shake things up. This year the US visitors to world Supercross and Bercy are not just on riding vacations on borrowed bikes for start money. LaRocco and MC both mean business. LaRocco's mechanic Paul Delaurier said LaRocco is in Eupore to win and wanted his own motor. MC's bike had just about everything but the paint brought from the US.
What racing? Im just going to Bercy for the pom-poms. Attendance at Stade de France: 45,000. Vuillemin won big! MC didn't make a lap. Find out what happened on he TFS emag 2000 Stade de France report. LaRocco second, Albee third.
Stade de France. The stadium has a unique ring around the top. Meet George Jetson. Two years ago at the MXdN in Foxhill, the world Supercross folks (FIM/Action Group) said they wanted a real SX series, US-style Supercrosses, an FIM round in the US, and credibility. The series didn't seem important enough for riders to really want the world title. In 1997, world SX series leader Emig skipped the last round and let the title go to Huffman because of economics. Ouch. Now the series is down to three rounds, France, Germany and Italy. The world folks tried an FIM round in Pasadena last year and it just didn't work out. They won't try a US round now because its an uphill battle trying to do such an event in SFX territory. So at this point, the world SX series still has a way to go. The current champion Vuillemin has been talking about the need for a vacation and won't be defending his title. The series still needs to pay start money to get the riders people want to see. OK, so what? The races are still good. The Euros bring their reputation for putting on first-rate events to the SX series, and it's time for round 1! Tickets for all the 2001 FMX
season events can be purchased through Ticketmaster charge by phone, www.ticketmaster.com, www.pacefmx.com, www.sfx.com,
and all arena box offices will accept orders. Be
sure to get your tickets early to ensure snagging the best seats and take advantage of a
$2 discount in some markets the day of the event. The 2001 Arenacross and FMX schedules are right here... French TFS reports its wet again in France for tomorrow's FIM Championship Supercross round 1. Look here for results and photos. The TFS emag 2000 will again have a full report. The weather should be good news for Vuillemin, who has won both times in the mud already. Last year he was wild crazy unreal there. Pichon should do good too. Tortelli won't be in the race in France because he's doing the Japanese national to ride Honda's 4-stroke. Tortelli isn't the only rider interested in the thing either. Euros want to know if it's ready for the GPs. Yamaha boss Keith McCarty is in Japan too, maybe to take spy photos - dunno. We can ask him next weekend in Bercy, because he is going for that one. More photos from the US Open are up on the TFS emag 2000. Don't miss the one in Sunday's 4-stroke race where photohound Ryan Mahoney is jumping out of the way when DuBach block passed Decker.
Last Year's report from Stade de France (member's section) Ryan Marshall sent in this cool link to a race that will be held on a ski slope in Paoli, IN. Check out Mammoth East.
Carey Hart at the US Open freestyle demo. There is a web site about a Carey Hart
video called Good Times with Carey Hart.
TFS emag is still digging into why Vuillemin is only doing the first round of the FIM Supercross series. DV has won both of the muddy Supercross events at Stade de France.
David Bailey won the world
triathlon championship handcycle division in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, Saturday. Motonews regular Don Graber took second place in Roncada's photo contest on www.ronronmx.com! From Antonio Quesada: The Racer X folks have reported Ryno is out of the hospital in Vegas. According to DC, he had lacerated liver, concussion, and cracked pinky finger. Big news for SFX Motorsports: The Portland FMX event will air on NBC! The event is set for Nov 10 and 11, and will air November 18th at 3:00 p.m. EST. Trevor Vines is confirmed on this one. Check the official site at www.pacefmx.com. This weekend's race report will be the FIM SX at Stade de France. This will be the third SX there. The first two were muddy. The track should be the best ever because they will use the whole infield instead of just part of it. Stade de France is a large stadium built for a world cup soccer match a few years ago.
Ryno was also listed but that may change since the crash at US Open. Vuillemin will race the first round. DC and Shannon were spotted Monday afternoon in the MGM as they were on their way to check on Ryno, who had that scary crash in Sunday's final at the US Open. DC confirmed that he does have a cracked rib and a lacerated liver. Huffman got taken out in the crash also but he's ok.
No Fear's Malcolm McCassey quickly made a new friend, the actor who played "Mini-me." The two seemed to hit it off Saturday. Mini-me is quite a Pastrana fan, according to the pit buzz. He had even practiced his Travis impression, probably something like "I had a great time today and you are a great crowd, this event is so cool!"
TFS bet on RC, the odds at the time were 5/2.
US Open Freestyle:
Friday night was Fro's retirement party. It had a great turnout. Fro gave an emotional and entertaining speech.
Fro gets a standing ovation after his retirement speech.
Vegas. I'm busy, more later. US Open gossip: It's not announced yet, but Ryno's focus with Honda next year will be developing the 4-stroke. He will race the outdoor series (not sure which bike yet), maybe more if they like the way the 4-stroke is going and want to have some fun at a SX. Albee's not racing, he is on the mend. Windham has had exactly three days of riding on the RM in California. He has one at home but has not ridden it yet. The actor who played "Mini-Me" in the second Austin Powers movie is here! Malcolm McCassey from No Fear was spotted zipping around in a cart they brought for him.
SFX media bigwig Denny Hartwig sent this cool summary of Supercross Facts. MX East and CN writer Michael James helped enhance the TFS emag 2000 Kawasaki Race of Champions report with a cool article, it's on KROC revisited. James is also sending around an email about stuff people remember from the 80s, uh huh... Twoallbeefpattiesspecialsaucelettucechessepicklesonionsonasessameseedbun. David Kimmey's Engine Ice keeps growing. He now has a deal with Planet Honda for next year. So far this year Engine Ice was a hit at Loretta's, then with freestylers, Lamy used it, then Kimmey got the stuff in all new Cobras - Jeez what next? I want some for my digicam, it gets hot sometimes. If you are going to Vegas (and you are), save enough for a souvenir program. They are done by Tim Clark of Team Green News and they are the slickest Supercross publication you will see all year. This section, Mototalk, and TFS emag 2000 will have updates throughout the weekend, but make sure you stay tuned to www.ussx.com too. There is a lot more going on at the MGM and closeby than the racing this weekend, so its hard to predict when to check in. Also, check in with www.cyclenews.com, since Jonnum will be updating regularly like he did at the MXdN, and Cody from www.motocross.com and Internet regular Mikeee P from I Hate TFS is going too.
Honda's new CR125 for 2001.
New Factory Connection signee Brandon Jesseman broke a navicular bone in his wrist, according to Todd Galley. He still will go to Vegas this weekend to hang out.
On the Official US Open Web Site they say Honda will be making a big announcement there this weekend. That means they have a cool secret and they are holding out. No problemo, we can spoil it already-here it is- Jean-Michel Bayle (winner of 16 250 Supercrosses between 1990/92) is returning as a test rider/consultant for Team Honda in 2001! Well maybe, its just a guess. Afterall, at the MXdN press conference he did say he had a surprise for us, maybe at Christmas. After this weekend, its back to the grind for RC. He is serious about 2001. No Bercy for him this time-check out the emag special: RC and 250 Supercross in 2001.

Book now as rooms fill up quickly! Back in the TFS racing days in NW Florida, the gate stomper was Nick DeVillo. Now his son Brian is an up-and-coming mini racer. Here is Brian Devillo's web site. Roncada isn't doing the US Open but will debut on his new KX250 in France at the Bercy SX Oct 27-29.
Ronron does a nacnac on his new bike. (Photo by Craig at www.motocross.com) Road stuff: Honda's 500cc GP road racer Valentino
Rossi won the Brasilian GP yesterday at Rio de While the cold rolled into Pittsburgh and things blew up downtown, Motonews regulars had plenty to see in Southern Ca. Sondra, Craig Book (CB), and Steve G all were checking out the happenings like Roncada's appearance in new Fox gear and his KX 250, Ryno practicing for the Open, and plenty more. MC and Albee will be at Elsinore where they will have a MTV Rock vs Rap MX dealy. Fro's team will be in Vegas this weekend. Their Yamaha deal is still in effect so this will be Factory Phil's last weekend on a Strategic 3 YZ 250. Factory is getting ready for the Open by practicing his starts. Michael Bryne will be on a CR250, since he still has two races left on his deal. After that they will race the Kawasakis. Happy Birthday to both Travis Pastrana and www.motoxcentral.com's Chris Tedesco. Both turn 17. Just think, Travis will be able to swig the fizzy at the Anaheim Supercross in the year 2005. Long time Motonews regular Motodude just got a cool ride on the Japanese bullet train.
Cool huh? Here's more on the THQ US Open White Brothers Four-Stroke Race: This should be the greatest Four-Stroke shoot out of all time! And the richest! $20,000 is up for grabs with a newly added bonus!!! Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays has just upped the anti with a Hawaiian Vacation to go to the overall winner of the White Brothers Four-Stroke race. "We are very excited about Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays participation and the Hawaiian Vacation bonus they have contributed," explained Tom White, President of White Brothers, sponsors of the four-stroke event. "This will really increase the incentive of the riders to go for the overall win. And with the $5,000 first place purse, this should be one heck of a race!" The Pleasant Hawaiian package includes airfare to and from Maui, five days accommodations and a rental car. And with $5,000 fresh in their pocket, the overall winner will be all set for a great vacation in paradise. The line up for this year's event is a who's who in four-stroke racing. Last year's winner, Keith Johnson, returns to defend his title on a KTM. He will have his hands full though with the likes of Doug Dubach and Spud Walters both hungry for the hunk of cash and a week in Maui. KTM's Kelly Smith, who just clinched the East Coast AMA Four-stroke series and Yamaha's Craig Decker, newly crowned West coast AMA Four-stroke champion, both have plans to walk away $5,000 richer. Cannondale Motorcycles will make their stadium motocross debut with two entries, Jeff Gibson and Keith Johnson. And to top it all off, "The Beast from the East" Damon Bradshaw is coming out of retirement to compete at the second annual White Brothers Four-Stroke event. The rest of the field is no slouch either. Lance Smail, Nathan Woods and Donald Upton (who finished third, fourth and fifth respectfully last year) return as well as Jimmy Lamastus, Dustin Nelson and Ted Campbell. Newcomers Robbie Skaggs, aboard a 426F Yamaha and Andy Harrington on a KTM 520 are both capable of podium finishes. Tickets are still available for the two day event on October 14 & 15 held inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas by contacting TicketMasters at 702-474-4000 or you can purchase them at the MGM Grand Hotel. Racing starts at 8PM on Saturday and 2PM on Sunday. from Dorito: Yahoo ran an AP story about a Northwest Airlines flight that was allegedly disrupted by renegade motorcycle racers.... "Two professional motorcycle racers and their entourage are being investigated by the FBI after reports they endangered the safety of a Northwest Airlines commercial flight from Memphis, Tenn., to Owensboro on Monday night.....Among those detained were motorcycle racers Nicky Hayden and Roger Lee Hayden, who were returning from a race in Rosamond, Calif." According to witnesses they were throwing bags of peanuts, and calling the pilot a chicken because he wouldn't do a 45 degree turn. (OK, I made that part up).
Racer X has a photo feature on the Kawasaki Race of Champions as this week "Rider of the Week" feature. There are also more photos on the TFS emag 2000, but the whole thing isn't done yet. The US Open web site has pit pass info, click here. One pass is $25 and is good for the weekend. There is also a press release about hotels for the weekend. If you don't have yours yet, hurry and reserve one or bring your sleeping bag! Motocross.com's Cody posted a US Open lineup on MC's site (www.nacnac.com) that looked correct, so I snagged it, here's the lineup for 250s, 4-stroke, and minis. Tortelli is going to be racking up the frequent flyer miles this month. One week after he races the US Open, he's scheduled to race the last round of the Japanese Supercross series. After that he's in for the Bercy Supercross, Oct 27-29. He's also racing the Italian round of the world SX series, Dec 2. The US contact for many of the riders who are going to Italy is woman pro rider Stefy Bau. Stefy also has Bentley, Wey, MC, Fonseca and herself racing that event. Husqvarna is serious about racing in the US next year. They have already signed Steve Lamson, and the emag silly season list for Husky also includes Jason Thomas and Gosselaar. This week they want to sign fast guy Damien Plotts as well.
If you like Racer X cover photos, you will find a few of them on Paul Buckley's web site. Paul has been doing top shelf photos for a long time. Kawasaki's GP team has signed Australian Chad Reed, who will join Mickael Maschio and Steve Ramon. The full press release is on Mototalk. Freestyler Trevor Vines not only won the last two SFX Motorsports FMX events, he went to England after the Tacoma FMX round and qualified for the British International Supercross. He didn't race though but instead he won a Freestyle contest. Other freestylers in the contest were Canadian Regan Seig and Andy Bell. Check out Trevor's web site at www.trevorvines.com. Also, the web site for the SFX Motorsports series is www.pacefmx.com. Ryan Marshall, who left his position as Supercross PR manager, is back in his home at Indy and working on racing there. He is working on an event that he says will be the biggest amatuer event ever in Indiana, and plans a big bash when the series returns next year. Send him a hello or whatever at ryno784@hotmail.com. The latest on Travis's injury is he doesn't have a torn ACL after all, but he does have a broken tibia that will need to heal until January. He won't race the US Open, where he also was scheduled to do a freestyle demo. "Bubba" Stewart missed the KROC due to a dislocated shoulder from Gainesville the previous weekend. That's a bummer because a lot of people were looking forward to seeing him ride a 125 there, including the brass at Fox Racing, who were there. The photo report from the Kawasaki Race of Champions at Englishtown New Jersey is going up. Dorina sent an update about Jimmy Button training in the gym on a bike. It's way cool. CHeck out the video on www.buttonflyracing.com. Don Graber has been posting some links to cool vintage photos on Mototalk, check it out!
Steve "Tight Deadlines" Bauer sent in this cool ad featuring Marty Tripes from 1985. This is to remind us he has a new edition of "Shameless" coming out. Look for it on www.sameoldstory.com MC won the Supercross in England this weekend. Mike Brown and Jamie Dobb were 2nd and 3rd. (from Goeff Meyer). Mike Craig won the Montreal Supercross, followed by: 2- Jason Thomas, 3- Marco Dube, and 4- JSR Jump contest: Mike Jones won the jump contest (from ALBEE on Mototalk). Mike Brown is the British 125 MX champion. Gordon Crockard is the Open Class British Champion. Paul Cooper lost the chance of winning the No1 plate with mechanical problems this weekend (from Gary Freeman). Vuillemin won a French Supercross this weekend in Nice, France. Here are a couple of photos thanks to www.mx2k.com.

Dang! It looks like race fans are going to miss Travis for a while after all. The Racer X gang set the record straight on the latest Racerhead. The column also has a link to a crazy "Wu" site that changes your name into a Wu name, whatever that is.
