Tonight on MOTO RADIO Doc Bodnar and Elrod will be interviewing Mike Craig of Team ECC who is announcing big news about some changes in the team. Listeners can call in with their questions - Live! 888-514-2100. Listen in on www.WorldTalkRadio.com, Tuesday 6:00-7:00 P.M. or listen to the show via archive at your convenience.

Eddy Seel's recent S1 Supermoto championship was Husqvarna's 67th world title.

Today the trip to Seville, Spain for round one of the THG World Supercross GP starts for most of the folks going. The Seville press conference will be Friday.

With both RC and Reed out, the world supercross championship scoring is up for grabs. You have to race in Europe for the first rounds to get scored in the FIM's title, which is Seville, Arnhem, and all the US rounds except Daytona. Likely champs are Ernesto Fonseca and Grant Langston. If Fonseca takes the title, Honda probably won't care much but it will be a great accomplishment for Fonseca himself, and Costa Rica will party. If Langston takes it, expect KTM to throw a party and be in love with world supercross. That's more than you can say for Yamaha, which won it last time, then told it's crew if they want to race WSX, they are riding outside their contract and have to buy their own insurance.

OK, it's official. Reed hurt his shoulder and will miss WSX. Tuesday he will go for orthoscopic surgery. Wish him luck. Did it really happen on a pool table? No one is supposed to know stuff like that, sheesh, but yes, it did.

The news about Tortelli's knee has been harder to find, but it's true. We don't know the extent yet, but sheesh, what luck. He has been recovering that knee long enough to rehab it twice, and now this. Best of luck on that knee, Seb.

It seems we have a fuss over injuries early in every supercross season, but this one is pre-season. Too wierd. At least we can't blame it on the promoter this time.

If you are making your Christmas list, add this. Bar 2 Bar 2003 is two DVDs and perfect for the supercross nut. DVD #1 is a full account of every race, starting with the WSX in Geneva, narrated by Art, David, Steele, DC and what's-his-name. DVD #2 might even get more playtime than #1. It has videos of the press conferences, the banquet speeches, and even 125 highlights. Watch the end of the 250 Salt Lake City press conference when Reed was saying nice things about MC, then you hear a voice from the back say "Thank you." Its was MC. Buy them at www.sxgp.com.

Fast by Design did Pastrana's new M2R helmet. Find out more about it here.

Consider this unofficial until tomorrow-Reed needs shoulder surgery and will miss WSX. Yamaha will do a press release Monday, then its official.

Also out of World SX, Kelly Smith, who hurt his back. Will find out more later. Sometimes the Internet works too good, too many injury reports! Evan Laughridge is also out with a broken hand. Today's rumor rumor-unconfirmed, is that Tortelli hurt his knee again.

ECC's Mathieu Vincetti is the new rider's manager and Jim Chamberlain is the ECC crew chief.

BOLLEY GOES SUPERMOTO WITH APRILIA by Mario Marini

Two-time MX World Champ Fred Bolley signed with Aprilia to race World FIM Supermoto series in 2004. It's not determined yet if he will contest the S1 or the S2 class.
Aprilia was supposed to contest the final FIM World Championship round this weekend in Benidorm but they decided to skip the trip to Spain and get ready instead with a two-rider team for the Bologna's Motor Show the next week. 250cc road racing World Champion Manuel Poggiali and 125cc road racing Vice-Champion Alex de Angelis will ride the new twin SXV 4.5 in Italy.

Just in: RC out injured. Press releases are out that confirm RC has a knee injury. Look here.

Well, bummer. RC is not happy with how supercross testing is going and doesn't want to spend two weeks in Europe right now. He will pull out of world SX and get ready for Anaheim. LaRocco and Tortelli are out too. This is a bummer because an RC/Reed showdown at Seville and Arnhem would be perfect! Maybe things will change, so don't cancel your trip!

Rumors were flying yesterday that RC is looking at a 450 for supercross. There are differing accounts. One has RC responding to KW's lap times, which were said to be faster, and the other version has RC riding KW's bike and deciding he wants that. Spies who know where to look will no doubt see RC thumping around southern California this week. If RC keeps riding a 450 and wants to press for one, he will need the month to test, which means..uh never mind. Seville is gonna rock!

New AMA logo and catch phrase, "rights, riding, racing." This is called making a "new brand indentity."

In case you missed it: There were two AMA banquets in Vegas this weekend. Here's a link to the AMA's report on the AMA Sports Banquet.

"How much for a Red Bull sticker on Jackson's SUV?"

Jacko upstages Supermoto: Red Bull, Metzger, and the AMA Red Bull Supermoto Finals got upstaged last week when the fuss over Michael Jackson's arrest and return to Las Vegas turned into a media circus. Just when local news cameras were supposed to be covering some supermoto, Jacko was making taking the scenic route from his airplane to his hotel in Vegas, and fans ran out into the street in traffic like crazy to touch him and get close. The media dropped everything to get over there. Too bad Metzger didn't hit the streets and backflip over the whole scene-hey, it's Vegas!

Shortest acceptance speech at the AMA Pro Racing banquet: Bubba. When he got his third place award for the 125 nationals, Bubba went to the mike and quickly said "I got third," and backed away from the podium and stood there with his head down. It was funny stuff.

Weirdest thing at the banquet: When Chris Carr was accepting his Athlete of the Year Award (The Big One,) fireworks that had just gone off triggered the hotel's fire alarm. Carr tried to make his speech when everyone was laughing and a recorded female voice said "Please make your way to the exits.." Carr finally said "Would someone shut her up!?"

Best scenery: These umbrella girls..

MAGIC SEEL by Mario Marini
(Photos by Marini)

Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium – Eddy Seel did it again, the big way this time. Under a continuous rain all day, the Belgian pleased his crowd with a triple strike at the 12th GP of the FIM World Supermoto season. After getting ‘his’ pole on Saturday (with the sun) he collected all the three heats of the new GP format the next day, nobody before was capable to win everything at the same GP. Starting from the first preliminary final he won by having reason of French Eric Lambert and Italian Massimo Beltrami. In the second he prevailed again and had two Italians, Ivan Lazzarini and Max Manzo, right behind him. Seel then easily put an incredible lap time in the SuperPole and just as he did in the previous heats he dominated the SuperFinal from start to end showing magic control on the slippery home asphalt. Manzo and Lazzarini jumped with him up on the podium. But the good news for Seel are not finished as by performing another outstanding win, his seventh so far, he also grabbed a solid leadership of the provisional standings. He sits now in first place, some 21 generous lengths ahead of former top man Boris Chambon who today incurred in a nightmare GP and for various reasons tasted the ground more than one time. With just one round to go that advantage looks interestingly comfortable for Seel and his Husqvarna. Debutant Aprilia’s Alex de Angelis while completing the entire GP program, pretty much stayed away from the real race as he focused on the data acquisition, and it resulted pretty lucrative. It was, in fact, the first time the new Aprilia SXV4.5 run with the wet and they were more than glad to test the electronic features response under this condition. De Angelis will do the next round as well at the season Finale held in Finestrat-Benidorm, Spain the 30th of this month.

Major League baseball star Jeff Kent of the Houston Astros loves motocross, and his Allsport Dynamics ankle and wrist braces.  Kent also uses a custom Allsport brace when he plays ball.  He was at Cycle Ranch today trying out a couple of new "off the shelf" wrist braces that will be available for less than $500.  He rode with them on both wrists and said they were fine. They should be available about January.  Kent grew up on bikes but had to back away due to his major league baseball career, but he still loves his MX bikes and his kids ride too. He even raced the Crossover Challenge last January and battled it out with skateboarder Steve Caballero.  His goal is to get his boy in the KTM Junior Supercross Challenge, and open a bike shop when he is done with baseball.

Daniel Blair won't be on Team Solitaire.  He and his bother Vince will be on their own on a team managed by Wade McDanielThis and some other changes are one the Teams 2004 page.  The Holigan Walters Racing team that will be part of the "Reality of Speed" Spike TV show is coming along fine.  The 6 riders (waiting for the confirmation on the last one) will be living in the Dallas area because a lot of the show will be taped at the shop (LCS Racing) in Garland and at their practice track.  Cool huh?  The title sponsors for the team will be announced as soon as ---- says it's OK.According to a German journalist at Bercy, Smets recently wrote a column where he cautioned young riders to not model their style from that madman RC.

Europe's top freestyler for years, "ET," would like to do the X Games next year, but he is a little concerned about it because he doesn't want to do backflips.  There is a bit of a split among freestylers in the US over the backflip and it's variations too.  Big events like X and Gravity are focusing on the "one BIG trick," which makes a well-executed run with other tricks worth less, even if its flawless and just as impressive.  This is why Renner and Mad Mike skipped the recent Vans Triple Crown and went for a sure paycheck at Bercy.  Also, ET will be getting a bike with bars that rotate 360 deg, which was rumored as long as two years ago.

What makes Bercy so special?  For years people who go always come back saying "wow."  How has the event maintained the reputation as the wildest, best show in supercross?  One reason is the Omnisports de Bercy stadium is basically a permanent rock concert with elaborate light and sound systems built in.  They can run the world-famous Bercy SX one weekend and a rock concert the next and not have to tear the place apart and build it up again.  US stadiums don't have that built-in rock concert feature.  Also, Euros just know how to party.  Americans doing supercross have watched Bercy for years, wishing they could whip an audience into a frenzy as well as the French (a little canned cheering in the Bercy sound system doesn't hurt either).  In fact, the US Open was kinda-sorta planned to be a great show like Bercy right on the Vegas strip.  The US Open has survived a buyout by CCE but the show is more like a standard US supercross.  It's not an American Bercy, even though CCE will try more pizzaz there than a regular series event.  Pizzaz costs money and involves risk.  Remember the first US Open and the bungie jumpers?  Americans went on line and whined about it.  RC came out in a king costume one time, and people booed.  Thanks to the whiners and boo-birds, CCE is now seems gun-shy about the Open and less likely than ever to do a blowout show.  If you could have somehow transported this years Bercy with it's airhorns, break dancing, pompoms, and a hiphop musical opening to America, Americans would rush home to their computers so they could be the first to complain. That is not to say people are not talking about more show business. Check out the always outspoken David Bailey's comments on his site, www.davidbaileymx.com.

The first run will have a circulation of 28,000 and will debut at the MPN Off-Road Expo in Las Vegas January 5-7, 2004.
The mag will be in full color. Advertising rates are reasonable. Produced by the same company that designs and produces Team Green News and the U.S. Open program... so you know it will be a quality piece. If you make a product designed to bolt onto an XR50, a KLX110, a TTR125 or anything in between, you will want to get involved with this magazine.
Interested advertisers may contact Tim Clark at 541-772-8150, or contact him via e-mail at tc@clarktime.com for an advertising package.

Motonews has been waiting to report that Lusk is going to Mach 1 Yamaha, but we still don't have the confirmation.  But, he did show up at Yamaha's test track today on a Mach 1 bike, so that's a pretty strong hint.

Doug Henry won the AMA Red Bull Supermoto at Irwindale.  Ward fell and DNF'd, couldn't start bike. Bostrom was really fast but fell also. Jürgen Künzel was second, and he won the unlimited class too. Künzel was impressive in the Red Bull Supermoto class but was slowed with a damaged brake lever after he led in the beginning. Metzger was third!  MC was in Fresno.

Aprilia is planning its completely new 450cc to debut at the penultimate World FIM Supermoto round in SPA-Francorchamps, Belgium the 15/16th of November. They will probably participate in the last round in Spain on November 30 as well. They may have new 250cc Road Racing World Champion Manuel Poggiali to ride the new bike in Belgium. The reason for the debut now could be related to the fact that Aprilia's revolutionary twin-engine project seems to be bothering the Japanese manufacturers and there may be some action against it by proposing new rules. In racing now, Aprilia would show the Japanese and the world that the bike exists for real and it's not just a project. As far as motocross the bike will be based on the same project but will be ready later this year. Aprilia is still negotiating with Mickael Pichon.
