Also from Mario Marini: ANOTHER
ITALIAN SIDELINED
Three time 125 world champion Alessio "Chicco"
Chiodi discovered that he has got a broken vertebra. In the last
GP run in France alsmost two weeks ago, the Italian was involved in a first
corner crash that left him on ground with a sore back and breathing
problems. He went to the hospital right away but the doctors didn't find any
particular damage. Once back home he didn't ride for a week and when the
last weekend he tried to make a few laps on his 250cc Chesterfield Yamaha it
resulted hard to just complete a couple of laps. Yesterday morning he went
to the Villa Serena Clinic in Forlė and it was found out that the T4
vertebra is partially broken. Chicco will miss for sure the Italian GP,
coming up this weekend, and will try to be back in Austria on June 9th.
Along with Andrea Bartolini (who yesterday got hurt at the International MX
race of Brou in France and could be out as long as a month) and Claudio
Federici (still recovering from a bad injury occurried at the first Italian
National Round in February) Italy will host a GP without its stars, these in
fact were member of the team that in '99 won the MXdN in Brazil.
Racer X confirmed that Travis Pastrana
did break his wrist at Hangtown, and will be out a while. The people
who were saying he needs more time off can relax now.

From Mario Marini: BARTOLINI
PROBABLY TO LOOSE THE ITALIAN MXGP
3rd in the 500 class point standings former world champion
Andrea Bartolini today went under
surgery to fix a dislocated (braking) finger of his right hand. While racing
the first moto of the International MX race of Brou in France the Italian
got injuried coming off a big jump and in the landing process he lost
control and dislocated the finger. It was immediately tempted a in-site
relocation of the finger but it turned out to be really hard. The operation
room remained the only option for the Honda Europe factory rider who now is
probably expected to wait some 20 days before jumping back on his CRF450R.
The race (run as open formula with bikes from every class racing together)
was won by Mickeal Pichon who had reason
of Joel Smets, Stefan Everts and
Joshua Coppins.

Hangtown was an interesting mix of dry and mud, with
the big rain hitting right between motos. It didn't matter for
RC and Bubba
though, they both ruled with a 1-1. Pastrana
crashed out of the first moto and went to the hospital with a suspected
broken navicular in his wrist. Ferry
and Vuillemin were second and third.
Hamblin did so well (6-9), he started
the weekend in a box van and ended it with his #99 Sobe Suzuki parked in the
factory pits, where he will be next weekend.
Roncada and RC got into it on the first moto first lap, which
ended when RC ran him into some haybales and Ronron banged up his leg.

From Dr Bodnar:
Just talked to Dave Castillo....from
Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria, CA....He was jumping at the Castillo
Ranch Track and "slightly" overshot a 250 foot
monster hill jump. His front wheel collapsed on landing and he slid 150
feet to the bottom. He
was airlifted to the hospital and luckily only had a broken clavicle
and a gnarly case of road rash all over his body. The hospital is
discharging him today and will need to rest up for
the next month at least. The session was being filmed for an upcoming video
and the
whole spectacle was caught on video, movie and stills as well as a
shot from a helicopter.

Grant Langston signed with KTM to ride
