From Jwag on the Wisp GNCC: "Rodney
Smith won the race over Mike Lafferty
and Fred Andrews, but the
real story involves series points leader and all-around nice guy
Jason Raines crashing and breaking his
leg. No reports yet on the severity of the injury, but Jason seemed to be in
a lot of pain as he was being taken from the track. That's really sad news
for a racer who was just getting into the spotlight."

Coppins hit with
dumb technicality: As if GPs didn't have enough trouble already, they
suspended a top 250 rider because his hay fever medicine tripped a drug
test. Sheesh. From
www.motogp.com: "Current 250cc World Championship number
two Josh Coppins failed a doping test at
the Grand Prix of Austria two weeks ago where he finished in third place.
According to an FIM press release the New
Zealander submitted a urine sample that was found not in accordance with the
rules; it contained a concentration of 157 micrograms/ml of pseudo-ephedrine
(cut-off level: 25 micrograms/ml) and a concentration of 7.4 micrograms/ml
of cathine (cut-off level: 5 micrograms/ml). The 25 year old ingested a
tablet for hay fever prior to the Grand Prix.
Another press release issued by the Vismara Honda team this morning
states that the Italian squad are ´surprised´ by the news and have
subsequently suspended Coppins from racing until the matter is cleared up by
the International jury in a few days."

Here is what DC
wrote in Racerhead last Friday" "Here’s a wild
guess on Jeremy in 2003: He signs with Suzuki soon, and
Larry Brooks offers to immediately step
in as the Team SoBe Suzuki and Blimpie/Suzuki manager for the rest of the
outdoor nationals, then goes back to running MC’s team in ‘03. In case you
haven’t heard, Roger DeCoster missed the
Budds Creek race with a bleeding ulcer and might be out for the rest of the
summer — first Windham, then
Travis, now The Man! Brooks isn’t doing
anything this summer, and would learn quickly how to run and work with
American Suzuki.... But that’s just a guess."
