to tell too. Motonews is pleased to feature the

KW turned two holeshots into
a pair of runaways at Washougal. RC
could not catch him in either moto, and in moto 2 got stuck a while
behind Reed. Ferry had the
fastest practice time Saturday but had bad luck Sunday, finishing a
disappointing 13th. LaRocco
was also on the podium with a 3-4.
KW is riding so good right now, and so hard to catch if he has
the lead on a clean track, the real question for RC for the rest of
the summer is can he beat KW to the first turn. Crowds have
been cheering them both, and when they get together they run off and
leave everyone. It's cool.
Bubba was unreal, again, an
easy 1-1. In moto 1 he got the holeshot and checked out.
In moto 2 his start was awful (for him) but he was in the lead in 2
laps and gone. There is no one in the 125 class that is on his
level.
Bad flagging had people in the pits angry all day. The
first was at the end of the first 125 practice that resulted in a
huge pileup at the finish tabletop that ended up damaging several
bikes and taking Pingree and
Bentley out for the day, plus
some others. It almost took out
Langston and wrecked his title hopes because he hurt his
wrist, but he rode anyway. He had to keep his wrist in an ice
cooler all day. KTM people were obviously quite unhappy.
The second bad flagging incident involved
Brown in moto 2, who fell while in second. He
fell on the step up after the start corner, and stood up, only to be
hit really hard by Hughes' front
fender and number plate at high speed, sending Brown cartwheeling
into the air. Hughes said it was too hard to see the flag
because the flagger just held it out still, instead of waving it
like you would expect with a rider down in the track where people
are going to be. Brown was lucky it was just a separated
shoulder, but it cost him 22 points. Hughes felt awful and
apologized, and put the troubles they had earlier in the season
behind them. Hughes really railed on the bad flagging in the
press conference.
Hughes ended up second overall and Byrne third, with a 7-2.
Langston took over the points lead, with 282. Brown has 271
and Hughes 254.

Czech Round of the FIM World Supermoto. (Mario

FIM WORLD SUPERMOTO CZECH ROUND by Mario Marini
Husqvarna's Eddie Seel collected another win of the FIM World
Supermoto series today at the Czech Round in Sosnova. He was coming
from the pole position he gained on Saturday but suffered a strong
Italy's Ivan Lazzarini in both boto one and moto two. Seel finished
second behind the Husaberg's in the preliminary heats and had a
fantastic start in the Superfinal. Then he went all the way to his
second win this season despite some rain started falling when half
of the race was completed.
Lazzarini had his best race ever by winning the two heats before the
final and got a second in the main event behind the strong Belgian.
Third was standings' leader Boris Chambon.
Seel, along with Lazzarini, Chambon and the other factory
Husqvarna's Italian Massimo Beltrami (who got fifth today) should
participate at the second round of the AMA Red Bull Supermoto series
in South Boston, VA at end of August.
It was a precious learning weekend for Doug Chandler who spent a lot
of time in getting adjusted with a completely new bike for him (he
first tried the 660cc KTM to then opte for the 610cc) and type of
racing. He got 18th in the main event and in the preliminary motos
he got 22/18.
Czech GP results:
1 - Eddie Seel, Husqvarna
2 - Ivan Lazzarini, Husaberg
3 - Boris Chambon, KTM
4 - Massimo Beltrami, Husaberg
5 - Gerald Delepine, Vertemati
Standings:
1 - Chambon 163
2 - Kunzel 155
3 - Lazzarini 138
4 - Fiorentino 124
5 - Seel 123

The popular and very cool Lake County
Stadium Motocross starts tomorrow night (Wednesday) in
Grayslake, Ill, just north of Chicago. The event features two
nights of racing on a track built right at the annual Lake County
Fair, so it brings in unique mix of motoheads and curious people who
walk over from the pig judging. The purse is huge and even
draws away some pros from Washougal. Leading the lineup is
Josh Demuth and
Tommy Hofmaster of Shogun, the
Subway Racing team, Crossroad Powersports'
Damien Plotts, and more. Turnout is already good.
Last year Demuth dominated and took home about $8K for two nights of
winning. The event's web site is
www.fairsx.com. Our own
Shyla from Mototalk is
organizing the post race party!
Speaking of Plotts, he had an awesome day at Unadilla on his
Honda CRF450, with great starts and 9th overall in the bag until his
crank started to go one the last lap. The damaged started to
let go and damaged a wire, which caused his bike to cut out just
before the finish flag. He had to push it to the finish line,
Ryno style, for 13t overall.
Still impressive!

The longest and most impressive win streak in outdoor motocross
history was ended at Unadilla with a KW
2-moto sweep over RC. KW
got the start in both motos, and in moto 1 he just checked out like
Bubba in a 125 moto. In
moto 2 KW and RC made the first turn side by side, setting up an
awesome moto-long chase that left the rest of the pack far behind.
In the closing laps, RC gave it all he had and had KW on the run,
but KW kept it together and went 1-1! RC was gracious on the
podium and in the press conference. Ferry was third with a 3-3.
Bubba won both 125 motos, despite an early crash in moto 1 that
broke his front brake. Langston
was all over Bubba for a few laps, but Bubba still pulled away and
won. Jesseman was on fire
in moto 1 but fell in moto 2.
Sellards was sick and missed moto 2.
Sorby had a wild and crazy day
that ended with him getting black-flagged in moto 2. KTM's
Brett Metcalfe took one for the team and let
Ryno by in moto 2, putting Ryno
on on the podium instead of Mike Brown.
Everts and

Team USA is on for the legendary Motocross des Nations, this year
in Belgium-Oct 4-5, the weekend before the US Open. The team
should be announced this week. Honda is backing the trip so
expect RC and KW's names to come up first. Yamaha is already
talking to Ferry about going
too. Hughes is also a top
pick. Bubba is very unlikely to be on the team because
Kawasaki doesn't want this race to be his professional 250 debut,
and they don't want him battling Europe's open class 4-strokes on a
125. He's 17 and will have his time for the MXdN, just not
this year. The trip was pretty much off until the word got out
that USA wasn't getting any love from DORNA to help go, but the
public outcry that you saw on Mototalk was heard and the AMA folks
met to approve the trip. The race is popular with Americans,
so we are going to go win it! Motonews will be there!
Speaking of Bubba and 250s...since he will race the supercross
opening rounds on a 250, and they want him to win a 125 east title
before he goes 250 full-time, what if Bubba raced both classes at
Houston on Feb 14, 2004? He could be the first one with a real
chance of winning both classes at a Supercross in one night.
Whoa! People are already talking about the possibility.

Bubba and
RC at Dilla practice Saturday.
KW set the fastest lap time
of the day at Saturday's practice at Unadilla. His best lap
from the AMA transponders was 2:08.009 in practice #2.
Ferry was second fastest with a
2:09.063. RC's best was
2:09.811 in practice #1, Bubba
was slightly faster than RC's best with a 2:09.585. On the
last lap of each practice the RC and Bubba managed to get together
to test each others speed a little. Weather was perfect
Saturday.
