So, the "big" news? It was all about a "big" truck...
Keith Johnson update: Here's the latest on his injuries from Atlanta.
Buddy Antunez said goodbye to Arenacross at the final round last weekend at Kansas City. The Budman closes the most impressive Arenacross career of all time, 6 championships.

We don't spread rumors on the internet.

Rumor Roundup all over again:
True: OK never mind yesterday's bit about Travis Pastrana not in for Daytona. The latest (for today anyway) is that testing in Florida went real well and he is in for Daytona! (250 class.)

Something big is happening Monday...
Rumor Roundup:
False: Pastrana to race Daytona. He said at Minneapolis he would not be ready and is racing St Louis.
False: Andrew Short has a Honda contract offer. He said at Atlanta that was not true. A lot of people are doing silly season talk right now, but until the RC/Bubba/Reed thing settles down, the rest is just talk.
False: Langston out for Daytona due to the incident with Jimmy Wilson. Racer X has reported not the case. Langston is in for Daytona.

Reed won big at Atlanta. Bubba again proved his only competition is the top 250 class's fastest lap times. After some bumping in the first turn of the 250 main, Reed came out just behind Huffman, then took the lead on lap two and checked out. KW had to fight his way to second. Here's what happened, Mototalk version.

ECC's Rodrig Thain hurt his thumb at Houston and can't ride yet, even though he tried. He should be back by Daytona.
Stefy Bau is racing the GNCC at Palatka next week, and did a hare scrambles at Gatorback as a warmup. She writes in: "
This past weekend I had my first race of the year on my CRF250R! Next
weekend I will have the GNCC in Palatka, FL so I decided to get some
practice in going to the Hare & Scramble at Gatorback FL. What an
experience... I had a blast. The loop was almost 8 miles long and the
motocross track was also part of it (my favorite part, of course!). There
were a couple of hills that reminded me of Glen Helen!" She won the women's A class.

KW and Bubba won at Minneapolis. Here's a quick review of what happened.
Darcy Lange is the new national Arenacross champion! He clinched the title at Sacramento this weekend. He won 3 out of four of the mains and Jeff Northrup won the other (his first).
Rumor roundup cont'd:
-False: Travis Pastrana racing the 125 class at Daytona. He said at Minneapolis he thought about it because he wanted a shot at Bubba, but he won't be ready. Fans will have to wait for St Louis and see Pastrana in the 250 class there.
-False?: Bubba tested an RM at the Suzuki test track. The rumor was shifted to, 'no that wasn't Bubba, that was Reed.'
-False?: Reed tested an RM at the Suzuki test track. That rumor was shifted to, 'no that wasn't Reed, that was Bubba.'
-False: Brown skips the rest of SXe . He is actually skipping just 2 SX because he is at RC's house doing 'boot camp' for Daytona.
The three hottest riders in US racing all have contracts up in 2004. The silly season rumors, counter rumors, and planted bogus rumors have already started. Reed's people hope to have something on paper by about the end of March. RC's people aren't talkin. Bubba can basically do what he wants, race for who he wants and write his own ticket-plus he can dance.
Let's dance....The most intense behind-the-scenes battle for the hottest three riders out there has begun.

Rumor roundup:
True: Michael Jordan visits Parts Unlimited in Janesville, Wi. MJ is a big superbike fan and has shown interest in a team. Is that cool or what?
Future Rumors: Bubba to Honda, Reed to Honda, RC to everything, Bubba everywhere, Reed everywhere, then they all stay put. With all three of them having a contract up in 2003, its going to be a busy year for rumors. Expect to hear anything and everything before it's over.

Business: Letter from Giuseppe Luongo on GPs
Chad Reed is 23 points ahead of KW for the AMA SX series points, and Damon Huffman is just 2 points ahead of Grant Langston for THQ World Supercross GP points. Evans slipped to third in that series after a couple of bad nights. The racing in the 250 class between Reed and KW is just as good if not better than the RC/Reed battles from the end of SX last year. At this point Reed cannot afford to have a bad night, and those 10 points KW lost at Phoenix really matter. Honda's appeal of the "10-pointer" will take place in Ohio Feb 10.
With veterans like Ivan Tedesco, Stephane Roncada and Travis Preston leading the points in the 125 west, the top rookie is Mach 1 Yamaha's Eric Nye in 11th. His best finish so far was a 8th at A3. This week's 125 "laps of glory" went to Kris Keefer, #706 on a KTM, who led part of a 125 heat race at A3.

A loud, energetic crowd got to see KW and Reed put the super back in supercross at A3! The two went at it again, racing closer and better than even last weekend. KW won it when Reed tipped over in the berm before the finish double. LaRocco was totally on the gas and caught the two, but after Reed got back up, he passed for second again. LaRocco got close on the last lap, which prompted Reed to turn and shake his finger at him. Huffman was impressive and stayed ahead of DV for 4th.

Reed points back at LaRocco after the main, and he uses the proper finger. 2004 is all about good manners.
The 125 race was just as good, with Roncada leading Tedesco most of the main. The two even bumped a couple of times, none of them worth any points though. Preston caught them and passed Roncada. Tedesco won his 5th straight. Ramsey went down in the first turn and caught up to 9th.

Wonder Warthog Racing's debut was a blast. Lot of privateers signed up to run a sticker and get their signup back for making the night show. The best part was #851 Scott Davis, who rode his semi in a full-on Warthog jersey with cape! The AMA didn't notice because it was cold and riders went to the gate in jackets. The Warthog had asked was the jersey/cape OK but there was a misunderstanding and the AMA thought he was just asking about a plain jersey with WW on it. Anyhoo, that won't happen again, and a great moment in supercross is in the books! CCE is totally behind the WW program and made the superhero and his sidekick Bauer welcome, and the AMA likes it too, well they did until the Scott Davis thing but they should get over it. Whatever. The arrival of WW made the SX more fun, and put a lot of money back into privateer's pockets. Check out the WWR site for all the latest!

False: MC will fill in at Honda at A3. Won't happen.
False: Cycle News writer Steve Cox is all talk with his MX Unleashed smacktalk. He won the Editor's Challenge at A3 press day.
True: Reed finished the 250 main at San Diego with no rear brakes. (Was that even a rumor?) :)
