"An American Paradox" entered the charts at #186 this week and it was all
due to the incredibly loyal fan base we have as well as the hard work of
Jason, Eric,Toby, Brian, Vanessa, Marc, and everyone else at our
lovely label, Fat Wreck Chords. This is big exciting news for us being its
the first time we have entered the Billboard charts. What does it mean? It
means that each and every single one of you hardcore dedicated Strung Out

non-stop support you people have given to us. We can't thank you enough. The

From Kawasaki:
James Stewart is featured in this week's Sports Illustrated
(April 29th issue with
Kenyon Martin on the cover). It is featured in the Adventure
section that was included in a limited edition, available to about
one-half of the normal circulation base. The
article, entitled "Eye of a Tiger," gives a brief
rundown on Stewart's quick rise to the professional ranks and
highlights his family background and friendship with baseball star
Ken Griffey.
There is also a subtle mention of his similarities to another
famous African-American sports star named Tiger.

Fox had championship T-shirts made for
Bubba just in case they got a break, but as
you know Preston cruised for second and
won the title. The shirts were in Fox rep
Scott Taylor's renta car at his hotel, and someone broke the
window and stole a box of them. Sheesh. So, be on the lookout
for people wearing one, they probably stole it. If you see them let us
know on Mototalk.
Damon Huffman,
like Ernesto Fonseca, will be making the
switch to the 125 class for the outdoors. Ben
Riddle will be racing 250s.

A concussion and DNF, a wipeout at Pontiac, and some
very strong competition from DV still
couldn't stop the remarkable Ricky Carmichael
from taking his second 250 supercross championship 1 week early. RC is the
reigning champion of everything there is to win in the US: Supercross,
outdoor nationals, and the US Open. At the post race press conference
at Salt Lake City, RC said this year was mentally easier than last year, but
physically tougher since he had to overcome the crash at Anaheim.

3D Racing's Jason Thomas,
who is recovering from a wrist injury, will be on the CCE web cast for the
supercross finals this weekend.
Chad Reed's
success in American racing is helping other Australian riders market their
talents here, and more may be on the way. YOT has already signed
Reed's cousin Craig Anderson
("Ando") and he may bring his young brother
with him next season. Also in the rumor mill are
Daryl Hurley
and Troy Carroll.
Last week a rumor was
floating that Bell Helmets was done and even MC
and the YOT crew may have to find new lids. Not so, according to pit
news this weekend. Bell was sold and nothing should be changing for
now.
Tomorrow the AMA will

Wet weather will delay practice at Salt Lake City.
It is not pouring, but Friday night was pretty wet and Dirt Wurx is trying
to make the best of it in hopes the evening will be clear. The track
walk will be about 2pm instead of 12:30.
Honda has high hopes for a double title night.
RC can clinch the 250 series with a win,
and Travis Preston is 10 points ahead of
Bubba so he can take it tonight with a
5th or better.
Mud can make anything happen in supercross. A
bad start can be a disaster more than ever (unless you are
Tortelli, or DV
who always wins in the mud at Stade de France). The race is
going up against an NBA playoff just a few blocks away in an indoor arena
(Delta Center) so that's not good for attendance. It could be the only
ones happy about this weather are the French guys!

Salt Lake City on Friday: Rain was forecast and
Friday practice was cancelled and the track covered with plastic. Then
it didn't rain, sheesh. This will mean everyone gets two short
practices in the morning and then race. If anyone has any issues with
the altitude they will be fixing them on race day.

West coast regional 125 series leader
Travis Preston doesn't let stress get a
chance. Friday he was relaxed and ready for Saturday's title night.
Honda can win two titles: Honda has a
possibility of leaving Salt Lake City with two championships.
Travis Preston is 10 points ahead of

DV so if he wins at SLC the title is
his.

What happened to Bubba
at Dallas? No one mentioned this yet. When Bubba fell in that
lap 12 crash with Tedesco, he bent a brake disc and
his wheel wasn't right. He fell right after that two more times and TV made
it look like he just forgot how to ride or something. It was the wheel.
Chad Reed was the
hottest property available for a 250 deal next year, and now that Yamaha
signed him already the clothing companies are next. Reed already
visited Fox and will do the same for Thor before deciding, and he may visit
some others.
There is talk that Bell Helmets may be out of the MX
helmet business, details are sketchy. It probably won't affect pros
yet, but they are backing off amateur racing.
And speaking of out of business, there is also much
talk that AST, the marketing company that made a big splash last fall when
it announced a deal with Thor to put MC and the YOT guys in AST by Thor
gear, is about to disappear off the gear.

Cool story by Dave Baccus (WFO)
about Dallas SX: "I recently had a buddy pass away while
racing, he was 33. He left behind a wife and
3 kids, ages 7,4 and 18 mo. We wanted to do
something special for the oldest boy Jamie,
so we talked with one of the guys at Team Honda on Friday and he said he
would help. First we went and took photos with RC
Sat before the main. Then we went back after
the race and RC gave Jamie a signed "Scorpion" Jersey that he wore in the
main. Then RC's mom came up with another signed jersey (Scorpion). Then
Nate-Dog came over and donated some
pants and a pair of goggles. We had an
auction today and one of the jerseys went for 2k, then the guy donated it
back to Jamie. All in all it was amazing,
and what great bunch of people at Team Honda.
Team Plano Honda gave Jamie a Travis Elliot
Jersey and some stickers along with a tour of the rig and some photos with
the team. KTM gave Jamie Factory
graphics/seat cover for his KTM along with goggles and a cap.
MC let Jamie into the Bud
Light rig and gave him an autographed photo.
Bubba let us do some photos too. We were
escorted down onto the track and we got to watch some of the semi's and the
KTM Challenge and Jamie got a photo on the Podium!
I'd like to thank everyone for making this little guy feel like a
"King" for a day!
Thanks also to Steve and
Mike........Again!"

Honda sweeps 125 podium with
Preston, Gosselaar and Elliot
at Dallas, and RC wins on the
Scorpion King bike!.

Team ECC is looking forward to next year and is
already starting silly season (who isn't?) One of the riders they are
talking to is Ryan Morias. The
very fast Morias started the season riding for
McGrath Racing in an kind of un-announced deal and got hurt at
Anaheim.

MC is racing one more SX season after this one and
after that he will need to hire a rider that isn't underage because of the
Bud Light sponsorship, and he will need someone that can connect with fans
as well as MC does (if that is possible!). As far as what bike, he
doesn't have a contract with Yamaha yet. Rumors (JUST rumors) are that
McGrath Racing will switch to Kawasakis. This is probably like the
thing with Chad Reed-he talked to
everyone before deciding on Yamaha, who wouldn't? Bud Light is stoked
with supercross and MC/McGrath Racing and the future possibilities are
exciting and, well, heavy duty. MC may be the first top pro to make a
smooth transition from champion to race team owner/partner with big backing,
and a team name that stands on its own as a brand, much like NASCAR has the
Tide car, the Interstate Batteries car, etc. Years from now we could
be talking about who is riding "the Bud Light bike," and people will still
be standing in line for MC's autograph.
Update on Brock Sellards:
"Dallas was a tough weekend for Brock as he was forced to drop out of
competition after becoming faint and almost passing out after the heat race.
This was a tough decision as Brock has always been one to ride through
injuries such as the torn knee he sustained earlier in the year. Brock
managed to contract a severe sinus infection for the second time this year
and the doctor advised him not to fly and suggested he should not race. He
felt very out of rhythm and had no sense of balance as he could not
consistently jump the obstacles. Brock decided after the heat race that he
was not only endangering himself but also his competitors and decided to
pull out of the event. He has been seeing a nose and throat specialist and
has been advised to have nasal surgery in the off season for the second time
in four years. Brock will most likely return at the Vegas shootout and is
looking forward to competing for the outdoor championship."
