Oh! What a night
Villopoto crashes and losses championship
Dungey ClinchesTitle
St. Louis, Mo
The fourteenth race of the 2010 Supercross season proved to be the race that decided the championship. After an intense battle with Ryan Dungey for the lead in the main Ryan Villopoto took a hard crash. Breaking his leg and ending his campaign for the 2010 Supercross Championship. Ryan Dungey who took the lead after the crash by Villiopoto must have realized that his attempt to win the Championship as a rookie was going to be a dream come true. The only other rider in the history of Supercross to do this was the "King of Supercross" Jeremy McGrath.
With Villopoto out for rest of season and the next competitor Josh Hill 77 points down Ryan Dungey clinches the 2010 AMA/FIM Monster Energy Supercross Championship.
Kevin Windham moves up into 4th overall but only 2 points out of third and with Villopoto falling out of contention Windham only has to beat Josh Hill in the final three races by 3 points to take second overall for the season.
East Coast final race was anticlimactic with Pourcell just riding around and finishing last in main giving the win to Juston Barcia.

Ryan Villopoto out for the rest of season with broken leg
St. Louis, MO
After an intense battle with Ryan Dungey for the lead in the main event. A battle that included an aggressive block pass that crashed both he and Dungey. Villopoto was able to get into the lead and put about a second on Dungey when he suffered a terrible crash in a rhythm section. The same rhythm section that Chad Reed had earlier in the night warned the officials about and the exact section where a few laps later Ivan Tedesco took a very hard fall.Tedesco suffered a broken ribs and a collapsed lung
Villopoto underwent surgery almost immediately to correct the broken tib/fib injury and should recover fully. Tedesco has gone home and is resting and should make a full recovery as well.
The National Outdoor Championships just took on a different look with the loss of reining Champion Villopoto, for at least a few races.

Take this race and move it
First if you didn't know I worked for AMA/SX Promoters back 2006 in the timing and scoring division, so I have some real experience here. First imagine every Friday afternoon you had to pack up every piece of office equipment, computers, tools and everything else in your business. Load them in Semis move them a few hundred to a few thousand miles. Then unpack and reset everything up again with a new location, a new landlord, a new utility company, a new phone company and sometimes union workers.
Then on occasion you go to a completely new venue. A venue that is supposed to be state of the art. So state of the art an 8 man, 12 computer timing and scoring division is put in a room made for 6 fans watching a football game. They put the webcast crew in a room half the size they normally get. So state of the art that the Speed television crew has a portable antenna in the hallway trying to get the signal from the truck. The thing to remember is that when you get to the stadium all of the phone lines, internet connections aren't set-up. You have to wait for the stadium employee or sometimes a phone company employee to set your hard lines then you start working from there.
Also we need to know is that even though the live webcast is broadcast for the enjoyment and information to the fans and customers for Supercrossonline. But the AMA Timing and scoring divisions primary job is to accurately keep track of the positions of the riders on the track to keep from having scoring errors. Second responsibility is to send the information to the AMA results server. Their job is not to feed the general public the race result, something that they are able to do and they do it.
The other problem that happens(though not as much as it used to) the hosting server can go down. The worst thing about servers going down on Saturday is tech support. Usually tech department have less experienced people on Saturday night. I know that the AMA results server overloaded once early in the season so a new server with twice the capacity was set up. Also when a server goes down or an internet connection goes down it takes several minutes for everything to reboot and start working again.
